Harriet Nuwagaba-Biribonwoha

Harriet Nuwagaba-Biribonwoha, MD/PhD, is the director of ICAP’s monitoring and evaluation unit in Tanzania and the study coordinator for targeted evaluations in East and Southern Africa.

Harriet joined ICAP from the Medical Research Council Clinical Trials Unit (MRC-CTU) in London where she was clinical trials manager in the HIV Division. Before working at MRC-CTU, Harriet was a Rhodes Scholar at the University of Oxford, UK, where she completed a doctoral degree in epidemiology focusing her research and thesis on prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV (PMTCT) in Uganda. She has also worked with the Instituto Superiore di Sanità (ISS-Rome) implementing its PMTCT program at St. Francis Hospital Nsambya in Kampala, Uganda.

Harriet received her medical degree from Makerere University Medical School in Kampala, Uganda. She has also completed a design and analysis of epidemiological studies (DANES) course at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in London, UK.
