David Schulman

David Schulman is the ICAP-Swaziland Nurse Capacity Initiative project coordinator. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing ICAP-Swaziland’s engagement with pre-service training institutions and the development of an integrated HIV training curriculum for nurses and programs.

David’s work includes working with UNISWA, other nursing colleges, and relevant stakeholders to design and implement a nurse mentorship program to improve competency-based clinical attachments and ensure proper orientation of nurses at the clinic level. He also provides support through the Ministry of Health to stakeholders and ICAP-site support teams to develop in-service training and clinical mentoring skills, as well as design an updated program with and for faculty staff to implement the HIV training curriculum. He also works with the Swaziland National AIDS Program and the Wellness Centre to implement nurse retention strategies, including HIV post-exposure prophylaxis, Hepatitis B vaccination, and stress management.

Before joining this position, David worked as an ICAP nurse advisor and pre-ART coordinator. He was also operations manager at Healthcare Swaziland and a provider-initiative HIV testing and counselling coordinator at Population Services International Swaziland.

David holds a diploma in general nursing and midwifery and a certificate in HIV/AIDS counselling and testing from TASC, which is endorsed by the Swaziland Ministry of health and Social welfare. He is currently pursuing a bachelor of business administration degree with the Management College of Southern Africa.
