Harrison Kamiru

Harrison Kamiru, BDS, MSc., DrPH, CHES, is the Director of Monitoring and Evaluation at ICAP-Swaziland and an associate research scientist at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health. Dr. Kamiru leads the M&E unit in providing technical assistance to ICAP-Swaziland programs including: clinical teams supporting hospitals, health centers, and clinics in delivery of comprehensive HIV/AIDS services, Nurse Capacity Initiative project, and Community Linkages project. He also provides technical assistance to the Ministry of Health in planning and implementation of M&E activities.

Dr. Kamiru has extensive experience working in Southern Africa in clinical dentistry, dental public health, and monitoring and evaluation of HIV/AIDS care and treatment programs. Before joining ICAP, he was a monitoring and evaluation specialist at Baylor International Pediatrics AIDS Initiative.

Dr. Kamiru earned a dental degree from the University of Nairobi and holds a master’s degree in dental public health from the University of Western Cape, South Africa. He also holds a doctorate in public health from the University of Texas School of Public Health, where he completed a fellowship through the Fogarty International Center of the U.S. National Institutes of Health’s AIDS International Training and Research Program. In addition, Dr. Kamiru is a certified health education specialist.
