Gregory Jagwer

Gregory Jagwer, MD is acting country director and director of programs for ICAP South Africa in the Port Elizabeth region.

Dr. Jagwer has 15 years experience in epidemiology, health and HIV/AIDS program management and service delivery in sub-Saharan Africa, having worked in Uganda, Kenya, Somali, Sudan, and Tanzania. Before joining ICAP, he worked as the deputy chief of party at CARE USA where he provided overall technical management of a PEPFAR-funded comprehensive HIV/AIDS program, which included psychosocial support activities for people living with HIV/AIDS, orphans and vulnerable children in Tanzania. Dr. Jagwer also worked as a senior health advisor for the Government of Kenya and as medical coordinator in both Kenya and South Sudan for the International Rescue Committee. In Uganda, he was the medical superintendent/director for Moroto District and also served as the coordinator of the National Sleeping Sickness Control Program for the Ministry of Health.

Dr. Jagwer holds a medical doctorate, a master’s of public health degree with a specialty in primary health care management, and master’s degree in infectious disease control.
