Peter Twyman

Peter Twyman, MPH, MA, is associate director for programs. In this role, he provides program planning, management and administrative support to UTAP, MCAP, and MTCT-Plus programs in Cote d'Ivoire and Rwanda.

Peter's interests include ARV adherence support, rights-based approaches to HIV care, risk reduction counseling, training, quality improvement, and linking health facilities and communities.

Before joining ICAP, he was a Senior HIV/AIDS Advisor for EngenderHealth, an international reproductive health NGO, where he supported HIV/AIDS programs in Africa and Asia. His areas of focus included integration of HIV/STI and reproductive health services, rights-based approaches to reducing HIV/AIDS stigma and discrimination in health care facilities, provider training in HIV/STI risk reduction counseling, and quality improvement of HIV/STI services. Peter also has worked on HIV/AIDS programs in the United States, serving as the director of a community-based HIV program in San Francisco and working in program planning and management at the Massachusetts and San Francisco Departments of Health.

Peter holds a master's of public health degree from Harvard University and a master of arts degree in anthropology from the University of California, Irvine. He received his bachelor of arts degree from Connecticut College.
