Eric Lugada

Eric Lugada, MD, PhD, is the ICAP-Nigeria program implementation unit director responsible for implementation at ICAP-supported sites.

Before joining ICAP, Eric worked with Axios Foundation as a senior researcher in charge of the monitoring and evaluation department. He has experience in community-based care, treatment, and support programs in HIV/AIDS management, and has been involved in clinical and operational research for seven years on the care of HIV-infected people in Africa. Previously, he also worked as a medical epidemiologist for the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC)-GAP program in Uganda. He participated in CDC-funded programs in design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation. He also participated in the formulation of national policy, guidelines, and implementation protocols for HIV counseling and testing.

Eric obtained a medical degree from Makerere University Medical School, Kampala, and a doctorate in epidemiology from the Center for International Health, University of Bergen, in Norway.
