Jonas Chanda

Jonas Chanda, MD, MPhil, is the central prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT) advisor responsible for overseeing PMTCT planning and implementation for the ICAP-Nigeria program.

Jonas is a medical officer with clinical and research experience, including policy and program management experience in the fields of HIV/AIDS and PMTCT, antiretroviral treatment, and HIV prevention trials using Tenofovir and microbicides. Before joining ICAP, Jonas was responsible for clinical trial research with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention-Botswana. He has also worked as a study research physician/site manager with the Harvard AIDS Institute Partnership in Botwana, and was a general practitioner in Botswana and Zambia.

Jonas earned a MPhil in HIV/AIDS Management from Stellenbosch University, Cape Town, South Africa, and bachelor's degrees in human biology and medicine from the University of Zambia-Lusaka.
