Rufino Fernandes

Rufino Fernandes, MD, is a clinical supervisor for ICAP in Nampula Province, Mozambique.

An infectious disease specialist, Dr. Fernandes previously split his time between infectious disease activities and social activism. As a medical doctor, he worked with CTR – AIDS, an HIV/AIDS training and reference center of Sao Paulo’s State government.  He also helped lead Sao Paulo’s health workers’ trade union during the installation of the national health system and the national HIV/AIDS program.

Dr. Fernandes trained at Juiz de Fora Federal University and Emilio Ribas Infectology Institute, Sao Paulo, Brazil.
