Gail Claquin

Gael Claquin, MD, MPH, a clinical officer with the ICAP-Lesotho office, has more than 12 years experience in infectious diseases and public health.

Before joining ICAP, Gael was the clinical advisor with Health Alliance International (HAI) of the University of Seattle from 2004-06. In this role, he was in charge of the HIV Clinic in Beira, Mozambique, and successfully participated in the expansion and roll-out of ART in the Sofala province in Mozambique. He provided clinical leadership and technical assistance in setting up new sites for ART with special emphasis on pMTCT, TB-HIV integration, and pediatric care and treatment.

From 2001-04, Gael worked in Bangui in Central African Republic with the French International Cooperation and Development and helped coordinate a comprehensive integrated HIV care project. He provided technical assistance for the establishment of user-friendly VCT centers and the provision of HIV care in community-based health.

Gael completed his internal medicine training and infectious disease fellowship at University of Paris VII and holds a masters in public health from the University of Bordeaux.
