Makeba Shiroya-Wandabwa

Makeba Shiroya-Wandabwa, MD, is a senior program officer for pediatrics at ICAP Kenya. In this role, she provides technical guidance and clinical expertise in matters related to pediatric HIV. 
Before joining ICAP, she worked with the AIDS Care and Treatment Services (ACTS), a U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention-funded collaborative program at the University of Nairobi Department of Pediatrics, where she was involved in provision of clinical support and operational research.  She was also part of the team that was instrumental in improving linkages to care and treatment for HIV-infected children at Kenyatta National Hospital, the National Referral Hospital in Kenya.

Dr. Shiroya -Wandabwa has been involved in training of trainers in pediatric antiretroviral therapy and, more recently, in pediatric clinical mentorship programs. Currently, she is a member of the Pediatric Technical Team working with the National AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infection Control Program (NASCOP) to compile the National Pediatric HIV Strategic Plan 2008-2011.

Makeba holds a bachelor‘s degree in medicine and surgery from Makerere University and a master’s degree in pediatrics from Nairobi University.
