Ruben Sahabo

Ruben Sahabo, MD, is country director for ICAP in Rwanda.

Before joining ICAP, Dr. Sahabo was involved in managing health activities and programs at the national and provincial levels in Rwanda, as well as for international organizations. As head of National Epidemiological Surveillance for the Rwanda Ministry of Health, he conducted epidemiological investigations of infectious diseases and oversaw management of epidemic outbreaks. He also worked as regional medical director in Kibungo Province in Rwanda’s Eastern Region, and served as irector of the National Reference Laboratory. After working as acting director of the Treatment and Research AIDS Center (TRAC), Dr. Sahabo was community health and HIV/AIDS medical advisor for U.S. Agency for International Development/Rwanda mission.

A medical doctor with a background in the epidemiology of infectious diseases. Dr. Sahabo was trained at St. Petersburg State Medical Academy in Petersburg, Russia.
