Mark Fussell

Mark Fussell is ICAP’s Chief Operating Officer. Before joining ICAP, Mark worked with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and most recently with the International Union against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (The Union). While at The Union, one of the world’s oldest international health non-profit membership-based organizations, Mark opened, staffed, and directed the organization’s North America office in New York where he was responsible for managing international projects including a multi-million dollar international TB research initiative funded by USAID. He was also responsible for managing organizational fundraising and development activities targeting a range of North American donors and for managing relationships with members, partners and organizations from the non-profit, academic, private and public sectors.

While serving with the CDC, Mark was the Senior Management Official to the State of Texas public health system, where he worked closely with the state health commissioner and other local public health directors to review CDC-funded public health programs and managed CDC’s emergency response support to Texas for hurricanes, outbreak investigations, and pandemic flu planning. He was also seconded to the WHO in Geneva where he served as the U.S. representative to the team charged with the design and launch of the international Stop TB Partnership. Additionally he served as Deputy Director of CDC field offices in Zimbabwe and Guatemala where he served as the primary management and strategic planning officer for HIV/AIDS and HIV-TB –related assistance programs.

As ICAP’s COO, Mark serves as a member of the core leadership team and he will oversee the activities of finance, human resources and operations.
