He recently finished his fellowship training in Infectious Diseases at the

. While a fellow, he worked on clinical research projects in
Ethiopia

San Diego
. His work in
Ethiopia
focused on Infection Control, occupational exposures, sero-prevalence of HIV-related co-infections, the formation of a consortium to run a clinical trial, and teaching health care providers HIV medicine. In
San Diego
, Dr. Asfour was the site coordinator of a clinical trial for an HIV-1 integrase inhibitor and worked on various other projects, including one to train visiting African health care workers.
Dr. Asfour holds a Doctor of Medicine degree from
New York
Medical
College
.
He also received formal education in clinical research through UCSD's NIH sponsored course in Clinical Research.
