El-Sadr Delivers Keynote Address at Infectious Diseases Society Conference

TORONTO, CANADA - Wafaa El-Sadr, MD, MPH, director of the International Center for AIDS Care and Treatment Programs (ICAP) at the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health (MSPH) and chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases at Harlem Hospital, delivered the keynote address, the Edward H. Kass Lecture, at the annual meeting of the Infectious Diseases Society of America, Oct. 12-15, in Toronto, Canada. Her lecture, titled “The Global HIV Epidemic: Perfect Storm, Silver Lining?,” examined the conditions that spurred the spread of HIV in the United States and around the world. She also described her own experiences in building HIV programs in Harlem and other countries, and how these efforts have the potential to transform healthcare services for people affected by the HIV epidemic.

The Edward H. Kass Lecture honors the memory of a distinguished Harvard Medical School professor and infectious disease researcher.
