JOB TITLE: Senior Data Analyst

The Monitoring, Evaluation and Research (MER) Unit at the International Center for AIDS Care and Treatment Programs (ICAP), Columbia University is seeking an experienced (Senior) Data Manager/Analyst to coordinate the cleaning, management, and analysis of data related to the scale-up of comprehensive HIV services in resource-limited settings in close collaboration with fellow MER staff based locally in NY and internationally.

Some specific responsibilities and duties of the position include the following:

  • Strengthen and maintain systems to capture, quality assure and disseminate routinely collected aggregate data across ICAP-supported HIV prevention, care and treatment sites
  • Work with MER Data Analyst(s) to ensure that datasets and relevant documentation used for analysis purposes are created and maintained on a quarterly basis or as requested by ICAP staff and outside investigators
  • Coordinate the preparation of routine slide sets and conduct analyses needed for abstracts, posters, presentations, and manuscripts
  • Develop and collaborate with ICAP staff on abstracts, posters, presentations, and manuscripts from descriptive and multivariate analysis of routinely collected aggregate and patient-level data, as well as other data sources
  • Work with MER Data Manager and Epidemiologist to strengthen systems to capture, quality assure and disseminate patient-level data collected at various ICAP-supported sites
  • Develop and contribute to research proposals and protocols, including leading sample size and power calculations and conceptualizing analysis plans
  • Work with MER Data Manager to ensure that the ICAP on-line reporting system is user friendly, adapted to the needs of the user as required, and that online reports are consistent with report/analyses generated from other data interfaces (e.g. analysis datasets).
  • Oversee the development of in-house databases, including new electronic patient-level Access databases
  • Lead regular meetings of the data analysis working group to keep MER colleagues abreast of recent innovative research methods and provide a forum for discussion of potential analysis topics
  • Assist ICAP-supported sites and ICAP country staff with analysis as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Position requires a minimum of a Masters degree in public health or statistics, plus at least 5 years of related experience in epidemiological data analysis and management using SAS, including demonstrated track record of working with large, complex cross-sectional, longitudinal, patient- and site-level datasets. Excellent oral/written communication, interpersonal, organizational, and other computer-related skills are also required.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
At least 1 year of experience working with data collected as part of routine service delivery, as well as experience in HIV/AIDS programs preferred.  Familiarity with other software programs such as Access, Crystal Reports and SQL highly desired.
