TITLE: Nurse Practitioner (Part-time)

REPORTS TO: Site Principal Investigator

LOCATION:ICAP Harlem Prevention Center (HPC), 215 West 125th Street

Reporting to the Director, Clinical and Training Unit and under the direct supervision of the Harlem Prevention Center Principal Investigator, thePart-time Nurse Practitioner obtains medical histories and conducts physical examinations of all screened and enrolled study participants; prescribes study medications; assess symptoms and medication side effects; and reviews laboratory results and reported adverse events related to study participation in an HIV Prevention Trials Network study.  Collects, documents and completes study related case report forms in compliance with the study protocol and study specific procedures.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Obtains medical histories and conducts physical examinations with assessment for symptoms of all screened and enrolled study participants in accordance with protocol requirements
  • Completes study related case report forms and source documentation as per protocol guidelines
  • Reviews all screening laboratory results to determine participant’s study eligibility
  • Reviews all study visit laboratory results, reported symptoms and other adverse events to determine relatedness to study drug
  • Writes and signs study specific prescription and corresponding New York State prescription for the study drug used 
  • In collaboration with the Data Manager and the Network Statistical Data Management Center, participates in quality assurance activities including peer review of case report forms, source documentation, informed consent forms for completeness and accuracy, and review of responses to data queries from the network statistical and data management center
  • Maintains accurate, comprehensive study records and source documentation
  • Conducts all research activities in accordance with study protocol, standard operating procedures and other appropriate institutional regulations, procedures, and policies, including procedures to safeguard confidentiality of study participants
  • Attends study specific and study related trainings and meetings as requested by the site’s Principal Investigator
  • Performs other duties in fulfillment of study objectives as assigned

EDUCATION

  • Requires Master’s degree in Nursing and is a graduate from an accredited nurse practitioner program
  • Current New York State NP and RN license

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum  two (2) years experience as a Nurse Practitioner and previous experience in working with the HIV population is highly desirable
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent clinical skills of conducting clinical exams and diagnose and initiate treatment
  • Must be able to adapt to a part-time flexible schedule
  • Proficiency in MS Office Applications

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in research studies involving human subjects, preferably with HIV/AIDS trials
  • Demonstrated experience working with community health and/or men’s health
  • Experience working with an ethnically, culturally and racially diverse environment

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • No international or domestic travel required
