JOB TITLE: Grants Writer (Temporary Part-Time)

LOCATION: New York, N.Y

OVERALL JOB FUNCTION:

Working under the general direction of the Director, Grants and Development, the Grants Writer will support ICAP responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Requests for Applications (RFA’s) issued by Center for Disease Control (CDC), US Agency for International Development (USAID) and other US government agencies. The Grants Writer will work with proposal team in the planning and development of complex proposals.

*Note: This position is for periodic short and/or long term assignments on an as needed basis.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Work closely with the proposal team with the submission of applications.
  2. Review and provide guidance on the technical approach to ensure that proposal is responsive to RFP.
  3. Produce and refine templates and tools for proposal development.
  4. Collect and review information and proposal sections from program, finance, and other members of proposal team.
  5. Draft/write technical and other proposal sections.
  6. Merge sections and produce final proposal, editing and rewriting as necessary to produce high quality product.
  7. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s Degree may substitute in part for experience)
• 5-10 years experience conceptualizing, writing and editing complex grant proposals
• Demonstrated experience writing grants and/or proposals for HIV/AIDS or related program
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite applications
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree in Public Health or related field  
• Fluent spoken and written Portuguese for certain proposals
