JOB TITLE: Data Analyst

The Monitoring, Evaluation and Research (MER) Unit at the International Center for AIDS Care and Treatment Programs (ICAP), Columbia University is seeking an experienced Data Analyst to assume primary responsibility for data management, and analysis for all MTCT-Plus Initiative activities in close collaboration with the Program Director and MER Epidemiologist based locally in NY.  The MTCT-Plus Initiative is a family-focused, HIV care and treatment program based at 14 sites in sub-Saharan Africa since 2003. 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Perform analyses of MTCT-plus data using multivariate modeling techniques.

  • Coordinate with Data Management Center (John Snow International) in data cleaning tasks to resolve data queries with MTCT-Plus Initiative sites.

  • Assist in analyzing data for abstracts, posters, presentations, and manuscripts and assist in writing methods and results sections for such presentations.  Proofread and review abstracts and manuscripts as needed.

  • Provide technical assistance in the cleaning and analysis of data as requested by specific MTCT-Plus Initiative sites.

  • Prepare analytic dataset and send to the ART-LINC, Kids ART-LINC, and IEDEA-East Africa and South Africa collaborations.

  • Provide leadership and build analytic capacity in the general MER Unit.

  • Participate in MER Data Analysis working group

QUALIFICATIONS:
Extensive knowledge and experience with SAS and experience working with relational databases required. Position requires a minimum of a Masters degree in public health or statistics, plus 2-5 years of related experience in epidemiological data analysis and management using SAS, including working with complex longitudinal, patient-level data.  The candidate should be able to handle multiple and diverse assignments. At least 1 year of experience in HIV/AIDS programs is preferred.  Excellent oral/written communication, interpersonal, organizational, and other computer-related skills required.
