JOB TITLE: Accountant  

INSTITUTION: Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health - ICAP

JOB FUNCTION:

GRANT FUNDED

Candidate will work in the Finance Unit of the International Center for HIV/AIDS Care and Treatment Programs, Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health. S/he will be responsible for the reconciliation and, monitoring of all financial/accounting transactions of at least two country offices. Will ensure that financial transactions comply with government regulations, University policies, procedures, and budgets. Candidate will provide financial management reports and update a tracking system and vendor files. Will assist with fiscal and operational tasks including preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual fiscal reports, grant budgets, and routine and special office projects and activities. Incumbent will also process accounts payable invoices, travel advances and purchasing transactions via AP/CAR and FFE. Perform other related duties as assigned.  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus three years of related experience.  
  • Communication, interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and computer (e.g. word processing, spreadsheet, networking, etc.) skills required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree in Accounting or Finance strongly preferred.
  • Experience in international protocols and previous work in an academic environment highly desirable.
