JOB TITLE: Clinical Advisor
LOCATION: Lesotho
REPORTS TO: Country Director, ICAP-Lesotho. Will also be expected to communicate and work closely with the ICAP-Lesotho Team, the ICAP-NY Director, Clinical Unit and the ICAP-NY Lesotho Desk Officer
OVERALL JOB FUNCTION:
The International Center for AIDS Care and Treatment Programs (ICAP) is seeking a candidate who will provide technical support for multidisciplinary, family-focused HIV/AIDS care and treatment in facilities receiving technical support from ICAP. Such assistance might include: site development, training staff in the clinical management of individuals with HIV/AIDS, clinical mentoring, information system development/improvement, facilitation of community linkages, patient flow analysis, and improvement of adherence support systems, development, and improvement of referral systems. Incumbent will work with health care providers at designated points of service to strengthen entry points into HIV treatment by increasing the number of referrals to the ARV units, from PMTCT and VCT to TB/HIV services. S/he will ensure that ICAP-supported clinical care activities at multiple delivery sites conform to Lesotho’s national guidelines. Incumbent will also perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- For Associate Research Scientist: MD, Nurse Practitioner or Physician’s Associate degree plus related experience, preferably in developing-country health care programs
- For Sr. Staff Associate: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent plus 8 years related experience, preferable in health care delivery or programming and/or significant experience in developing-country health care programs
- For Staff Associate: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent plus 4 years experience in health care delivery or programming, with significant experience in developing-country health care programs
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree or equivalent in Public Health
- Extensive clinical experience in care and treatment of HIV/AIDS and PMTCT
- At least 3 years experience in health programs management in resource-constrained settings
- Experience working in collaboration with local government partners
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
